Following the correct stacking principles minimizes the risk of damage, deformation, and erosion, ensuring that the pipes remain in good condition for use. Below are the key principles to follow when stacking SSAW steel pipes.

 

Ensure Stable and Safe Stacking
SSAW steel pipes must be stacked in a stable manner, ensuring safety at all times. Pipes of different specifications, varieties, materials, and sizes should be stacked separately to avoid confusion and prevent mutual erosion. This separation helps maintain the integrity of each type of pipe.

 

Avoid Corrosive Materials Nearby
SSAW steel pipes should not be stacked near corrosive objects that may lead to rust or degradation of the steel. Keeping the area around the stacks free from such hazards is crucial.

 

Elevate the Bottom Layer
The base of the SSAW steel pipe stack should be elevated, firm, and smooth to prevent the pipes from becoming damp or deformed. A strong foundation helps maintain the structural integrity of the pipes.

 

Follow a First-In, First-Out Approach

Stacking Height and Width Limitations

A proper gap should be maintained between stacks to facilitate movement and inspection. Typically, a space of about 0.5 meters between stacks is recommended, with a wider access channel of 1.5 to 2 meters, depending on the material size and the machinery used for transport.

 

Base Height for Different Surfaces
The height of the base for SSAW steel pipe stacking depends on the storage environment. For warehouses with cement floors, the pad height should be at least 0.1 meters. If stored on a muddy surface, the pad should be elevated between 0.2 and 0.5 meters. For outdoor storage, the height should be raised further—0.3 to 0.5 meters on a cement surface and 0.5 to 0.7 meters on a natural ground surface.
