The 3PE (Three-Layer Polyethylene) coated steel pipe features a robust three-layer protective system:

Epoxy Primer Layer

The innermost layer consists of fusion bonded epoxy (FBE) powder, typically over 100μm thick. Applied directly to the pipe surface, it provides excellent adhesion and resistance to high temperatures, ensuring a strong bond for the subsequent layers.

 

Copolymer Adhesive Layer

Made primarily of polyolefin, this middle layer has a thickness ranging from 170μm to 250μm. It serves as a bonding agent between the epoxy primer and the outer polyethylene layer, ensuring cohesive adhesion and added corrosion resistance.

 

Polyethylene (PE) Outer Layer

The outermost layer is extruded polyethylene, with a thickness of 2.5 mm to 3.7 mm. This layer offers superior protection against water, chemicals, electrical conductivity, and mechanical damage, making it a critical barrier for long-term pipe performance in harsh environments.
