How spiral steel pipes are sawed off?

Date:2024-12-18

After undergoing processes like forming, welding, and cooling, spiral steel pipes still require sawing to achieve the desired length. The accuracy of the cutting process is critical, as the length of the pipe directly impacts both the quality and sales of the finished product. Therefore, it is essential to control the length tolerance to within (+5 mm) of the required specifications.

Here’s an overview of the sawing process and key considerations to ensure proper operation:

1. Operational Procedure

Before starting the operation, the following steps must be followed:

Powering Up: First, power on the control cabinet. Turn off the automatic switch inside the control cabinet. Next, switch off the operating table’s power and start the computer.

Machine Settings: Turn off the unloading start button. Move the inner and outer control buttons of the uniform power cabinet to the external position and set the direction button accordingly.

Starting the Saw: Press the stepping power start button and the saw blade motor start button to begin the sawing operation. Once this is done, the welding pipe sawing operation menu will appear on the computer display, where you can choose between manual, simulation, automatic, and setting tools based on the prompts.

2. Pre-Operation Checks

Compressed Air Pressure: Before operating, ensure that the compressed air pressure is maintained at 0.6 MPa. This is necessary for proper functioning of the saw cylinder and brake cylinder.

Saw and Brake Cylinder Test: Using the manual button, check that the saw cylinder and brake cylinder move smoothly.

Positioning: Use the manual tool to retract the flying saw trolley to the zero position. The trolley will then automatically seek its zero point.

Speed Measuring Roller: If the welded pipe head exceeds the speed measuring roller, activate the closed speed measuring roller by pressing the button and pulse coding.

3. Automatic Operation

To keep the saw running automatically, press the start button on the keyboard. The flying saw will run continuously and repeat the process. To stop the operation, simply press the stop key. This will allow the flying saw trolley to complete the sawing and return to the zero position.

If a tool change is needed, even when the main menu appears on the computer display, press the reset key on the keyboard. Then, select the appropriate tool and adjust the setting parameters as required.

4. Shutdown Procedure and Maintenance

Shutdown for Long Periods: If the spiral steel pipe unit is to be shut down for an extended period, first turn off the stepping power supply and stop the saw blade motor. This helps conserve energy.

Speed-Measuring Pulse Maintenance: Regularly check the quality of the speed-measuring photoelectric encoding pulse to ensure the encoder is not damaged or exposed to moisture.

Flat-End Tool Adjustment: For different specifications of welded pipes, the position and edge shape of the flat-end tool should be adjusted in a timely manner. After sawing, the end face of the steel pipe should be smooth and flat to meet process requirements.

5. Key Considerations for Quality Control

Ensure that the sawing operation is carried out under controlled conditions to prevent any deviations from the specified length tolerance.

Regularly inspect the equipment, including the saw blade motor, control cabinet, and compressed air system, to ensure smooth operation and avoid downtime.

Proper handling of the sawing tool and adjustment of parameters based on pipe specifications will help maintain the quality of the finished product.

By following these steps and paying close attention to operational details, manufacturers can achieve high-quality sawing results, contributing to the overall performance and reliability of the spiral steel pipes.
