To extend the lifespan and improve the performance of SSAW (Spiral Submerged Arc Welded) steel pipes, applying effective exterior treatment is essential. These processes help enhance the pipe’s resistance to corrosion and other environmental factors. Below are key methods to improve the durability of SSAW steel pipes.
Surface Cleaning
Solvents and emulsions are used to clean the surface of anti-corrosion spiral tubes. This process effectively removes organic materials such as grease and dust. However, it does not eliminate rust, oxide scale, or welding residues, making it more suitable as an auxiliary treatment.
Manual Polishing
Tools such as wire brushes and sandpaper are employed to polish the pipe's surface. This step removes loose oxide scale, rust, welding slag, and similar contaminants, creating a cleaner base for further treatments.
Chemical Pickling
Chemical pickling is used to remove scale, rust, and old coatings from the pipe surface. This method achieves a satisfactory level of cleanliness and surface roughness, providing a better foundation for anti-corrosion coatings.
Abrasive Blasting
A high-speed motor drives spray or projection blades, propelling abrasives such as steel grit, steel shots, wire segments, or minerals onto the pipe surface. This method thoroughly removes rust, oxides, and dirt while creating a uniformly rough surface. The abrasive impact and friction significantly improve the adhesion of anti-corrosion coatings, ensuring the pipe's durability under challenging conditions.
By implementing these methods, SSAW steel pipes gain enhanced resilience and longevity, making them suitable for demanding applications in various industries.
