Alloy 20 is a high-performance austenitic stainless steel known for its exceptional resistance to corrosion. Composed of a balanced mix of chromium, nickel, and molybdenum, Alloy 20 plates are specifically engineered to withstand aggressive environments, particularly those involving sulfuric acid. This makes them a reliable choice in demanding industries such as oil and gas refining, marine applications, food processing, chemical processing, and petrochemicals. Below is an overview of the ASTM B463 UNS N08020 Alloy 20 plate.

ASTM B463 UNS N08020 Alloy 20 Plate Finishes
#1 Finish – Hot rolled, annealed, and descaled. Supplied in strip, foil, and ribbon form. Ideal for non-decorative applications where surface appearance is not critical.
#2D Finish – A dull, non-reflective finish achieved by cold rolling, annealing, and descaling. Commonly used for deep-drawn parts and applications requiring lubricant retention during forming.
#2B Finish – A smooth, reflective finish produced by cold rolling, annealing, and descaling, followed by a light polishing pass. Brighter than 2D, it is suitable for general-purpose applications.
BA (Bright Annealed) – Cold rolled and bright annealed to achieve a highly reflective surface. Used when a clean, bright finish is required.
CBA (Coarse Bright Annealed) – Cold rolled with a matte surface and then bright annealed. Offers a balance between brightness and texture.
#2 Cold Rolled – A basic cold rolled finish, typically used as a base for further finishing or coating.
#2BA Finish – Cold rolled and bright annealed with a light polish using high-gloss rolls. Produces a glossy, smooth finish suitable for applications requiring a clean, bright surface with light forming.
Polished Finish – Available in various grit levels to meet specific aesthetic or functional surface finish requirements. Suitable for applications demanding a customized polished appearance.
