Transporting spiral steel pipes (SSAW pipes) requires careful handling to prevent damage during transit. Here are key protection measures to ensure their safe delivery.
Bundling Requirements:
Fixed-length spiral steel pipes may be transported without bundling.
Thread Protection:
If threaded buckles are present at both ends of the pipes, they should be fitted with thread protectors. Apply lubricating oil or anti-rust agents to the threaded fasteners. If the ends are breached, nozzle protectors can be added as needed.
Packaging Stability:
The packaging for spiral steel pipes should be designed to prevent loosening and damage during loading, unloading, transportation, and storage.
External Damage Prevention:
To meet customer requirements for avoiding external damage, consider using protective devices between the pipes. These can include rubber, straw rope, fiber cloth, plastic, or pipe caps.
Support for Thin-Walled Pipes:
Thin-walled spiral steel pipes should be protected with internal supports or external frames made from the same steel material as the pipes.
Special Packaging Requests:
If a purchaser has specific requirements regarding packaging materials and methods, these should be detailed in the contract. If not specified, the supplier will determine the appropriate materials and methods.
Regulatory Compliance:
Packaging materials must adhere to relevant regulations. In the absence of specific requirements, they should fulfill the intended purpose while minimizing waste and environmental impact.
Bundling Guidelines:
If the customer requests bundling, it should be considered appropriate, provided the pipe diameter is between 159 mm and 500 mm. Bundles should be secured with steel belts, with each strand twisted into at least two strands and adjusted based on the outer diameter and weight of the pipes to prevent loosening.
Transport Conditions:
Steel pipes should be transported on a special trailer measuring 18 meters in length. The trailer should use wooden squares measuring 100 mm x 200 mm, covered with rubber cushions or straw bags at least 10 mm thick and 300 mm wide. Lay rubber belts or fine soil bags between two layers of pipes for added protection.
Secure Binding:
During transport, pipes must be firmly bound to prevent rolling or slipping. Use specialized slings for secure binding.
Container Packing:
If spiral steel pipes are placed in containers, cover the interior with soft moisture-proof materials like textile cloth or straw mats. To prevent movement within the container, pipes can be bundled or secured with protective brackets.
